That which is needed or desired; a thing of which the loss is felt; what is not possessed, and is necessary for use or pleasure.
v. t.
The act of visiting, or going to see a person or thing; a brief stay of business, friendship, ceremony, curiosity, or the like, usually longer than a call; as, a visit of civility or respect; a visit to Saratoga; the visit of a physician.

An act of irreverence or desecration; profanation or contemptuous treatment of sacred things; as, the violation of a church.
