The founding ancestor of the larger Ha clan was named Ha Kong-jin and settled in the Chinju area around ad 1010. Most of the modern descendants of Ha Kong-jin live in the KyÅngsang and ChÅlla provinces. The founding ancestor of the smaller of the two clans was named Ha HÅm, and he settled in the Taegu area after emigrating from Song China some time in the early part of the twelfth century.
