English (Yorkshire)
English (Yorkshire) : habitational name from Thackray in the parish of Great Timble, West Yorkshire, now submerged in Fewston reservoir. It was named with Old Norse þak ‘thatching’, ‘reeds’ + (v)rá ‘nook’, ‘corner’.
Surname or Lastname

English : occupational name for a thatcher, from an agent derivative of northern Middle English thack ‘thatch’ (Old Norse þak). Compare Thatcher.
Surname or Lastname
Korean
Korean : there is one Chinese character for the Son surname. Some sources mention as many as 118 clans for the Son family, but only seven can be documented. According to legend, the Son clan’s founding ancestor was named Kuryema and was one of the six pre-Shilla elders who made Pak HyÅkkÅse the first king of Shilla. The first documented ancestor, however, was called Sun. Sun is said to have lived a poverty-stricken existence in the Shilla period. His son was a voracious eater and ate Sun’s old mother’s food as well as his own. Sun, feeling that he could always get another son but that his mother was irreplaceable, decided to go into the mountains to bury his son. When he dug into the ground, however, he found a bell. He hung the bell on a nearby tree and rang it. So loud and clear was the cry of the bell that the king heard it in the palace below and came to investigate. The king was amazed at the bell and gave Sun a house and food. Later, a Buddhist temple was built on that spot. The founding ancestor of the Iljik (or Andong) Son clan originally bore the surname Sun, but during the reign of KoryÅ king HyÅnjong (1009–1031), Sun was changed to Son.English : from Middle English sone ‘son’, hence a distinguishing epithet for a son who shared the same personal name as his father.Jewish (Ashkenazic) : variant of Sohn, or Sonn.

English (of Norman origin)
English (of Norman origin) : habitational name from any of various places in northern France, so called from the Gallo-Roman personal name Persius + the locative suffix -acum. The suggestion has also been made that it is a nickname from Old French perce(r) ‘to pierce or breach’ + haie ‘hedge’, ‘enclosure’, referring either to a soldier remembered for his breach of a fortification, or in jest to a poacher who was in the habit of breaking into a private park.Percy is the name of a leading Northumbrian family, who were instrumental in holding the English border against the Scots from their stronghold at Alnwick. Their founder was a Norman, William de Percy (?1030–96), 1st Baron Percy, who accompanied William the Conqueror. Sir Henry Percy (1342–1408), 1st Earl of Northumberland, and his son Sir Henry Percy (1364–1403), known as Harry Hotspur, helped place Henry IV on the throne. The earldom, created in 1377, has continued, on two occasions through female members, in the same family to the present day. George Percy (1508–1632), son of the 8th Earl of Northumberland, was in VA from 1606 to 1612, serving briefly as governor.

English and German
English and German : from the Germanic personal name Anselm, composed of the elements ans- ‘god’ + helma ‘protection’, ‘helmet’. The personal name was taken to France and England by St Anselm (c.1033–1109), known as the Father of Scholasticism. He was born in Aosta, Italy, joined the Benedictine order at Bec in Normandy, France, and in 1093 became archbishop of Canterbury, England.
